The field of dentistry has seen some incredible advances in recent years. At Gage Park Dental we keep on top of these advances and carefully select the ones that will allow us to take better care of our patients. Here are a few of the technologies we use.
Imagine a tiny camera that allows you to look inside your mouth, allowing you to see your teeth and gums first hand. Intraoral cameras do just that. We use them to help you understand what is going on with your teeth and gums and to consult with you on treatment options.
Unlike traditional X-rays that use film, digital X-rays use sensors to capture X-ray images of your teeth and gums. Digital X-rays uses less radiation than traditional X-rays, and they provide very high quality images, allowing us to better detect injury and decay. Digital X-ray images can also be stored on a computer, allowing us to zoom in on areas where we need a closer look.
Sometimes it's necessary to take an X-ray of your full jaw using a panoramic X-ray. These special X-ray machines take a full picture of your jaw in one session, providing us with a holistic picture of your teeth, gums and jaw that allows us to diagnose injury, decay and gum disease, and also to determine good locations for dental implants.
