Dr. Sudha Subbanna began her dental education in India, graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Government Dental College in her native Bangalore. She graduated in first rank in periodontology.
She went on to study at the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 2001 with her DDS and further awards, winning the Award of Excellence – Best Student.
After graduating from Western, Dr. Subbanna went on to finish a year of residency at the department of dentistry at the Hospital for Sick Children, where she discovered a love for children's dentistry. She joined Gage Park Dental in 2002 after finishing her residency.
Dr. Subbanna loves all areas of dentistry and dedicates her life to learning as much as she can. She has taken over 60 courses in all areas of dentistry, has worked alongside specialists to gain hands-on experience, and has a wide variety of research interests. She's a member of the Toronto Crown and Bridge Study Club, the Ontario Dental Association and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
One of Dr. Subbanna's areas of special interest is dental anxiety. She has been working with patients to help reduce their anxiety with a combination of sedative treatment and music therapy.
Dr. Subbanna lives in Mississauga with her husband and two daughters. She stays fit by walking, running, swimming and playing badminton. She also takes an active role in her community by sharing her love of Indian classical music, and teaching free Kannada language classes.
